SADILP finishes on a high note
The South Australian Defence Industry Leadership Program (SADILP) 2010 ended on a very rewarding note, when participants presented their group Concept Paper Presentations to a Review Panel of industry experts gathered at the Intercontinental Hotel in Adelaide.
SADILP 2010, the inaugural program and the first of its kind in Australia, commenced in May and concluded on December 8, 2010 by His Excellency Rear Admiral Kevin Scarce AC CSC RANR, Governor of South Australia. At the graduation, RADM Scarce commented on the importance of the program to the future of the State’s defence industry.
The 2010 program consisted of 18 participants gathering regularly over an eight-month period for an interactive session with guest speakers, followed by dinner at the Naval, Military and Air Force Club. SADILP is partly funded through the Department of Further Education, Employment, Science and Technology, South Australia Works program, which is an initiative of the Government of South Australia.
The following feedback from some participants and their employers signifies its success:
“Our participating manager has developed into a real asset to our company. His confidence and professionalism have improved dramatically, which will in turn enhance relationships with our customers” Roger Callow, Manufacturing Manager, Static/Calbic
“This was an excellent program for personal development as well as providing practical tools for
implementation in business – and I’ve already implemented a number of new initiatives into the Candetti Group directly from the SADILP. I want to put my own national management team through SADILP over the next few years.” Alex Candetti, Executive Chairman, Candetti Constructions
This program has provided significant development opportunities to its participants, and recognizes the following award winners:
SADILP 2010 Merit Award: Rob Starbuck, Nova Defence: Rob won this award due to his attendance at all events, his ability to lead in discussion, knowledge of subject and effort in concept and assignment work and enthusiastic and positive approach through demonstrated leadership ability.
SADILP 2010 Encouragement Award: Simon Atze, DESA Australia: Simon has demonstrated significant growth in his personal style, level of contribution, self-awareness and willingness to try new things. Simon has shown a willingness to look deep within and challenge himself which demonstrates that he has great potential to progress in his career.
The following list of Concept Papers produced during the course demonstrates the value of collaborative creative thinking between participants.
